K-beauty favs Pt I

Updated: Nov 2, 2019

Korean beauty (K-beauty) products have steadily gained global recognition and popularity over the years - making South Korea the beauty capital of the world. It’s fair to say that the market is booming especially with their innovative marketing, alluring customers like me with their adorable packaging; plus points for the products being functional too!

I’ve slowly gotten into the trend of K-beauty at the start of college with brands like Innisfree and my collection has grown ever since. If you’d like to switch up some of your face masks, just keep reading!

I don’t religiously live by the 10-step skincare regimen but I give my face some lovin’ 2-3 times a week to see results. It’s a continuous effort so don’t expect the magic to happen overnight! It's worked well for me so far with my three main favourites below.

The top 3 masks I use on a regular basis:

Mediheal

I stumbled across this product when I got this as a souvenir. After trying it once, I completely fell in love with it. I went and source for more and realised how reasonably priced it was and I could totally feel the benefits after using it.

Why I’d recommend this product:

I used to use tonnes of Innisfree sheet masks but it didn't seem to do TOO much for after effects except feeling moisturised; It was great back then but now with the stresses of life + aging, I felt like my skin needed a little bit more.

Mediheal has a range to choose from depending on your current skin condition - teatree (troubled skin), hydration (dry and uneven skin tone) and collagen (dull and tired skin).

My experience: With Mediheal, my skin felt more plump and complexion looked brighter and smoother than before. Especially with the collagen mask, I could feel that my skin was tighter after each use as well. I usually pat the leftover essence into my skin after removing the mask and put on a moisturiser after to lock in all the goodness overnight. The essence doesn’t leave my face feeling too gooey or sticky either!

I highly recommend this brand for sheet masks if you’re looking for a mid-range priced mask. I've influenced the people around me to start using this mask now so hopefully you'd find that it benefits you too! If you're a first timer and are planning to try it, drop a message to let me know how you find it cause I'd like to know x

Skinfood Rice Wash-off Mask

Why I’d recommend this product: This works as a gentle exfoliant if you’re not looking for something too harsh on your skin (great for those with sensitive skin). I find a lot of products with exfoliating properties quite drying on the skin but this product didn’t feel like that at all!

My experience: The texture of the product is light and milky. It does seem quite runny but I don't need to remain lying down to make sure it stays on my face, so yay to being able to multitask! I had to reapply more than once in the T-zone areas to ensure that I get the full brightening and softening effects of the rice extract; which also means I might finish the pot faster!

It’s great for a light weekly mask but not if you’re looking for deep exfoliation to get rid of all impurities and dead skin. It does, however, leave my skin smoother and brighter than before. So why not give it a try and see if it works for you!

Tony Moly Egg Pore Blackhead Steam Balm Mask

Why I’d recommend this product: This is a self-heating physical exfoliant which I'd say doesn't 100% do the trick like all the exfoliants out there but it does make it easier to remove them afterwards. I've only used this product on my T-zone area to work on the excess sebum and blackheads.

My experience: It contains charcoal and egg yolk which clears impurities and nourishes the skin and I do see and feel a difference after using it - a clearer complexion and less noticeable blackheads! It claims to have a dewy effect on the skin cause of the vitamin E extract but I didn’t see my skin looking like the actresses in K-dramas yet.

Maybe cause I haven't tried it for my entire face yet but if you have, let me know what you think!

Will be sourcing for more of these Korean masks soon so send me a message on my Instagram page if any of you are interested!

Much love xx
